Hexicon: Something strange beneath the stars (cdr single)
The Hexicon boys have a new single out, and we are reliably told it 'scintillates with a melodic pop radiance. It'll be in our shop here soon, but it's already over there in the hexicon shop. You can probably already download it from your toaster, and definitely from itoons. Woop!

Back in the Game: Houdini
I know what you're thinking - "does Haircut Records even exist anymore?? Have they got so caught up in the trappings of indie-rock pretend-success that they don't have time to come round and cut my hair these days? It's enought to make you want to spit." Well, friends, it is exactly that question that we have been waiting in the wings, listening attentively for. And finally we have found a band strong-limbed and thick-skinned enough for you to express your disenchantment in time-honoured salivary fashion, if only 'health and safety' regulations didn't prevent it.
This band is Houdini, and their first single 'What A Fire' is released by the reanimated corpse of Haircut Records on Saturday 17th October.
"A Saturday?" I hear you cry, "Aside from the fact that traditionally records are released on Monday, and doing anything else can only be interpreted as an arrogant dismissal of the whole commercial aspect of music distribution, there's no way I can wait any longer than Thursday to hear this hot new joint!"
Calm yourselves, you excitable little picachus. Such well-founded impatience on your behalf is precisely why we are having a record release party at the George Tavern, 373 Commercial Rd, London town, (click here for map) THIS VERY THURSDAY the 15th October, where not only will you be able to hear the band of men Houdini play their excruciatingly loud rock music dressed in their own clothes, but also hear sets by our and your good friends Allo Darlin' and Hexicon, for absolutely no money whatsoever. And you'll even get a free cd before the damn thing is released through haircutrecords.co.uk and iTunes and quite possibly many other places two hole days later.

In other joyous events, haircut records is expanding it's operations with a brand new recording studio, the bunker. We are delighted to announce that this is a joint venture with Mr Mike of the wonderful Hexicon. We're even going to let the public use it, so check it out.

so happy new year already! we start the year of the dog with some bell-bottom-tickling good news. our very own good pals esio trot are only supporting the 15th sexiest man in sweden, mr jens lekman. if you don't know this fellow, you are missing the hell out. get to his site and sort yourself out. if you are already in the know, all you will need to know is that on valentine's day, the jens uk tour will stopping at st andrew's church in brighton, and the trot will be kicking off proceedings with their rock band thing. it's only a fiver, and it's on tuesday, so boys grab your girls, or indeed vice versa and inside out, and we will see you there.
